Who we are

About BluoVerda

BluoVerda Deutschland e.V. is a diaspora organization that promotes the maintenance, enhancement and recovery of ecosystems and natural resources in Latin America. We work with consideration and in support of sustainable livelihoods of local people. We do this by inspiring and building stronger, collaborative and more equal ties among institutions, society and science, promoting also triangular cooperation.

Our Mission

BluoVerda helps develop sustainable pathways based on empathy and respect for nature. To do so, we work together with our partners in Europe and overseas to design, implement and support initiatives, establishing innovative and inclusive approaches, thereby achieving a balance between conservation, resource use and local livelihoods. Such initiatives include:

  • Coordination, management and Monitoring & Evaluation of research and development projects (Our Projects)
  • Active involvement in education for sustainable development initiatives in Germany and Latin America (Our Workshops and Training)
  • Organization of fundraising and awareness-raising campaigns (Our Events)

Our work encompasses six thematic areas: climate, forests & wildlife, mountain ecosystem, marine & freshwater, food & farming (agriculture and fisheries), and sustainable cities.

WHAT WE SUPPORT

BluoVerda supports the implementation of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development with its globally determined Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), especially in relation to:

  • Increased conservation of natural landscapes in Latin America, especially biodiversity, land and water (SGD14, SDG15)
  • Development of blue and green measures for the responsible management of natural resources and sustainable cities (SDG11)
  • Improvement of local livelihoods - social empowerment, gender equity, poverty alleviation, wellbeing, and income generation (SDG1, SDG5, SDG8, SDG10)
  • Transfer of technology and information to our partners to strengthen their work in Latin America (SDG9, SDG17)
  • Mitigation of greenhouse gasses associated with the activities of the agricultural, forestry and marine sectors (SDG13)
  • Adaptation of vulnerable populations to climate-related hazards and climate change (SDG13)

Our vision

"A World in which Humans and Nature live in Harmony"

We are an integral part of nature. We strive for sustainable development based on the responsible management of natural resources and respect for the living environment.
